1. Gold Status at Optimum Colliery

Congratulations to the Risk Busters team who achieved Gold Status at Optimum Colliery. The team has been working hard to ensure they meet all the requirements to become a world-class team. Teh achievement clearly demonstrates the team's commitment and passion towards the MDW process and that they are a benchmark unit within their profession. This type of safety discipline and diligence is what makes great teams and even greater leaders. You have all done us proud.

2. MDW Innovation initiative at Douglas Colliery

Douglas Colliery has started a new initiative where all the innovation winners at the different Multi-level meetings will present their innovations at the bi-monthly C5 upper meeting. This idea came from management so that we can recognise individuals for the great contribution they are making in setting world-class standards. We would like to congratulate Ben Naude, Jan Massyn, Nic van der Merwe and Peter Morena for their excellent innovations and presentations at the meeting.

3. 5S @ Khutala

With the roll out of the second MDW moudule at Khutala at the end of last year (2007), it is so inspiring to see that teams have already seen the benefit of this tool. 5S is not just good housekeeping but is a systematic approach to ensure that the good housekeeping of your area or department is sustainable; it also assists everyone in ensuring that their work area is user-friendly by means of MODAPTS.
