The Kuala Lumpur Pioneers

On 12 January 2009, a first group of HR people commenced work at our new Kuala Lumpur Shared Services Centre. This group has been named the Pioneers to reflect a common bond among its members as trailblazers within a new work environment. Like the pioneers of old, the KL Pioneers are establishing a culture in which how they treat each other, the expectations they have, and the ground rules they set are the foundations on which new people will build.

The Chief People Officer, Karen Wood, recently visited the new centre and was impressed by the team’s implementation of the Mission-Directed Work Teams program. Jill Jamieson [HR Development Manager], Carlos Chiozza [HRS Global Projects Manager] and Carol Gibbs [HRS Functional Lead] are providing the Pioneers with two months of induction and training before the centre’s official Go Live in April.

The Pioneers are Swee Choo Loo, Annette Teo, Sharose Othman,
Rasha Shafii and Geok Pheng Lim, seen here with Jill Jamieson

Gibbs (third from the right).

"Lean is a mind set. Lean is not a list of things to do and it's not a set of tools to use. Lean is a people-centred system committed to the continuous elimination of waste everywhere while adding value for customers. Change does not take place by edicts on the wall, but rather through everyday conversation. MDW leads that!"
